PAGE Nominates Two New Board MembersApril 9, 2018

The PAGE Board of Directors has nominated Francis Wick and Aaron Julien to fill the vacancies created by the resignations of Board members Will Randall (Fredericksburg, MD) and Maureen Wedge (Lewiston, ME). The family newspapers of Randall and Wedge were both recently sold.

Wick and Julien will serve for the remainder of 2018 but will be on the fall ballot for new terms beginning January 1, 2019.

Aaron Julien is president and CEO of Newspapers of New England, Inc. NNE publishes the Concord Monitor, Valley News, Daily Hampshire Gazette, Greenfield Recorder, Athol Daily News, and various weekly and monthly publications. NNE, which owns three presses, also has a commercial printing business, and does third party distribution and digital agency work for other publishers. Before becoming president of NNE in 2009, he was publisher of the Daily Hampshire Gazette. Prior to joining NNE, Julien was a partner with Perkins Thompson, a Portland, Maine law firm. Julien is a board member of New England Newspaper & Press Association and the Massachusetts Newspaper Publishers Association

Francis Wick is the President and CEO of Wick Communications, a third generations owned and operated media company. Wick Communications is a family-owned community media company with newspapers, websites, magazines, specialty publications and a strong digital presence in 10 states — Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota and Washington. The home offices are in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Francis Wick has been CEO since March 1, 2016.

Wick was past publisher of Montrose Daily Press, Sierra Vista Herald, Douglas Dispatch and San Pedro Valley News Sun. He has an MBA from the University of Arizona. Milton I. Wick and his brother, James L. Wick, were inducted into the Arizona Newspaper Hall of Fame for their decades of commitment to journalism. The brothers were the first U.S. journalists to tour and report from European and Asiatic Russia and Siberia, and led the first group of U.S. journalists, as Wick Editors Tours, to Poland and Czechoslovakia. They also were the first to enter and report from Hungary and Romania after the fall of the Iron Curtain, and broke several stories out of Eastern bloc nations.
